Hi Rylee, I tried to subscribe to your account, and it does not work for some reason???. I’m sorry, I’ll try again.

Thank you for saying what I was thinking. I’m new to this and only have one story out so far but I’ve only been liking what I truly like. Otherwise I say nothing at all.

I think everything that you think.

I do, however, share my work on people's posts soliciting content, but I choose carefully who sees my work. I take the time to explore their content before deciding if they're my target audience. In fact, I don't have a target audience—that isn’t why I'm on here. An artist's one true target audience is they themselves. But here, I'm trying to curate a community, merely for the fact that "if you must write, you must read." I'm more interested in reading the other person's work than I'm vested in them reading mine.

Initially, I felt like some prejudiced, literary-classist prick for doing this, but now I understand my feelings by reading your post.

As far as asking someone to subscribe goes, I usually say something like, "Subscribe to read more of my work," only after they've definitely affirmed that they liked one of my pieces.

I agree with you here! So many want sub for sub, but honestly it should be up to the people if they want to or not. I'm more likely to follow more people than subscribe...I subscribe to those I want, regardless whether they sub or follow back.
